satisfaction surveys, and whether they do more harm than good to patient outcomes. Kate Nix, herself a former intern at The Heritage Foundation, presented a healthcare model of eliminating employer-based insurance, and empowering patients to make their own insurance purchasing decisions.

Journal Club is a monthly meeting on a Wednesday (the week of the month will vary, so keep checking this calendar!), where students sign up to present an article or research piece to share with the group. We always serve great lunches, and RSVPs are appreciated.

Last year, over 400 students attended MCW's Journal Club over the academic year 2014-2015, and this year we hope to reach more students. We discuss medical innovation, technology, ethics, policy and anything that is interesting to us MCW students.

It will be another great lunch event. Thanks to everyone who has attended over the years. You have helped make these among BRIs most well-attended student events ever. At BRI's 2015 Leadership Conference, MCW was awarded $500 towards our events this year, due to our amazing attendance last year.

Forty-five (45) students joined us for MCW's BRI/AMA joint Journal Club's "Monthly Meeting of the Minds." This month's theme was "The Basics of Healthcare Finances Every Doctor Should Know."

During February's BRI/AMA Journal Club lunch talk we tailored our presentation specifically for an area many medical students don't learn about. While medical students learn the ins and outs of scientific medicine, they are given little to no education on the financial aspects involved with medicine. Therefore, BRI at MCW decided to give a "crash course" presentation outlining all of the various payment options and plans in the American healthcare system today. Lunch was provided to those who attended.
