SUMMARY:BRI Virtual Speaker Series - Ridding Health Care of Identity Politics with Stanley Goldfarb\, MD
DESCRIPTION:Partisanship and health care make poor bedfellows. Yet identity politics increasingly finds its way into the exam room. New federal rules now give doctors financial incentives to ask patients questions tied to so-called “social determinants of health”—questions that have little to do with medicine and everything to do with politics. Join us for a frank conversation with Dr. Stanley Goldfarb about how this shift threatens patient trust\, medical integrity\, and the proper role of physicians. \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Questions / CommentsDo you have a question for Dr. Goldfarb? Through leadership conferences\, chapter events\, scholarships to national health care conferences and consistent written content\, BRI strives to cultivate the careers of med students and to fully unleash the power of medicine to maximize human health.\nAbout Stanley Goldfarb\, MD:\nDr. Goldfarb helped found Do No Harm after publication of his book\, Take Two Aspirin and Call Me By My Pronouns: a call to action to eliminate discriminatory practices in healthcare\, including elevating diversity above meritocracy in the admission of students to medical school and the hiring of faculty members. His new book\, Doing Great Harm\, explores these topics further\, describes Do No Harm‘s fight against so-called gender-affirming care in children\, and explores how Do No Harm has affected change in healthcare. As chairman of Do No Harm\, Dr. Goldfarb has been published widely in various periodicals including the Wall Street Journal\, City Journal\, the New York Post\, and the Free Press on the threats to medical education and medical care in the United States posed by introduction of critical race theory into these enterprises.
