BRI Virtual Speaker Series: Thoughts on the State of Open Inquiry and Debate on Campus with Jared Rhoads

November 23 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

How can medical students be expected to think critically about health care policy if they’re never challenged to defend their own assumptions or seriously consider the strongest arguments on the other side? Can students make a good-faith case for free-market medicine, or explain alternative views without resorting to caricature? And what happens to medical education when certain ideas are treated as sacrosanct, beyond reproach? Join us in conversation with Jared Rhoads, Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Modern Health, as we discuss the role of debate in medical schools, the value of intellectual diversity, and why future physicians need to grapple seriously with competing ideas about how health care should work.
