SUMMARY:BRI in the Buckeye State: A Conversation with Dr. Leila Javidi
DESCRIPTION:BRI in the Buckeye State: A Conversation with Leila Javidi\n Direct Primary Care and Direct Specialty Care are rapidly gaining traction across the country. Nationally\, DPC enrollment has surged over the past decade\, growing by more than 800% since 2017 as demand for transparent\, relationship-based care continues to accelerate. Yet despite this momentum\, Ohio is presently home to a relatively small number of DPC/DSC practices. But it won't be this way for long.\n\nJoin us for a conversation with Dr. Leila Javidi of Rebel + Thrive DPC\, one of Ohio’s most outspoken advocates for the direct care movement and a widely followed physician voice on TikTok. We’ll explore why more physicians are rejecting the status quo\, what makes the DPC model so appealing to both doctors and patients\, and what it actually takes to build an independent practice from the ground up. \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Questions / CommentsDo you have a question for our speaker? Nevertheless\, Sen. Stephen Huffman—a practicing emergency physician\, lifelong Ohio resident\, and Chair of the Ohio Senate Health Committee—remains optimistic. \n\nJoin us for a conversation with Sen. SUMMARY:BRI in the Buckeye State: A Conversation with Rea Hederman
DESCRIPTION:BRI in the Buckeye State: A Conversation with Rea Hederman\n Ohio’s health care system has undergone rapid consolidation over the past decade\, with large\, vertically-integrated conglomerates absorbing independent practices at a rapid rate. Rural hospitals have been hit especially hard\, facing mounting financial and operational strain as local access to care continues to erode. What policymakers do next will shape the future of the Buckeye State's health landscape and directly impact physicians for years to come.\n\nJoin us for a conversation with Rea Hederman\, Executive Director of the Economic Research Center and Vice President of Policy at the Buckeye Institute. SUMMARY:BRI Virtual Speaker Series - Fixing Health Care in Four Key Steps with Matt Ohrt
DESCRIPTION:BRI Virtual Speaker Series – Fixing Health Care in Four Key Steps with Matt Ohrt\n Health care today functions as a monopoly—concentrating power in the hands of sellers while leaving patients with rising costs\, fewer choices\, and little say in their own care. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Join us for a conversation with Matt Ohrt\, Executive Director of the Free Market Medical Association\, as he outlines the steps to restoring competition in health care with the ultimate goal of empowering both patients and physicians to pursue better care at lower costs. \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Questions / CommentsDo you have a question for our speaker? SUMMARY:BRI Virtual Speaker Series - Ridding Health Care of Identity Politics with Stanley Goldfarb\, MD
DESCRIPTION:Partisanship and health care make poor bedfellows. Yet identity politics increasingly finds its way into the exam room. New federal rules now give doctors financial incentives to ask patients questions tied to so-called “social determinants of health”—questions that have little to do with medicine and everything to do with politics. Join us for a frank conversation with Dr. Stanley Goldfarb about how this shift threatens patient trust\, medical integrity\, and the proper role of physicians. \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Questions / CommentsDo you have a question for Dr. Goldfarb? SUMMARY:BRI Virtual Event Series with Antonio Ciaccia - "The role of PBMs in healthcare today"
DESCRIPTION:Antonio Ciaccia of 46brooklyn Research joins Benjamin Rush Institute to talk about the role PBMs have\, and should have\, in today’s healthcare on Thursday\, January 6\, 2022\, at 12pm ET. Space is limited – Register NOW. \nBorn and raised in pharmacy\, Antonio has been crawling around pharmacies his entire life. After three years as a pharmacy technician and two years of pre-pharmacy curriculum\, Antonio diverted course\, graduating from The Ohio State University in 2007 with dual degrees in communications and political science before moving into the world of association management. \nThinking that pharmacy would be in his rear-view mirror forever\, he ended up making his way back to his pharmacy home\, heading up government affairs for the Ohio Pharmacists Association\, a trade organization with a strong track record of advocating for drug pricing transparency. After years of studying the pharmacy marketplace\, Antonio became increasingly perplexed and concerned as he saw drug costs spiking while payouts to pharmacies were declining. \nKnowing something was being lost somewhere in the middle of an ever-growing transaction\, Antonio has spent years working to crack the drug pricing code and pull the rug out from what he believes is one of the most dysfunctional marketplaces in the world. \nRegister NOW.

Not only do many uninsured or underinsured American patients take advantage of this cash pricing\, but many Canadians have traveled to The Surgery Center to receive care. Recently\, the focus has expanded to working with self-funded employers to offer high value care to their employees. Dr. Smith hopes as many facilities as possible will adopt a transparent pricing model\, a move he believes will lower costs for all and improve quality of care. Dr. Smith is the co-founder of the Free Market Medical Association. The association provides a platform where buyers\, both individuals and employers\, who are seeking high quality\, affordable healthcare can find free market minded sellers\, both physicians and facilities.
