Health Reform U. CONFERENCE

January 2, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - January 3, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

Health Reform U. at the 2019 State Health Policy Summit

Each year, the Cato Institute’s assembles state focused, free-market think tanks to learn from national experts and share ideas about how to make health care better, more affordable, and more secure—particularly for society’s most vulnerable. Past speakers include economist Kate Baicker; Arizona Supreme Court Justice Clint Bolick; Remote Area Medical founder Stan Brock; Harvard Medical School dean emeritus Jeffrey S. Flier; author David Goldhill; Washington Post columnist Megan McArdle; and Jack Wennberg of Dartmouth Medical School.

Cato is excited to work with the Benjamin Rush Institute to add to our 2019 conference a special day of panels and discussions exclusively for medical students. We are pleased to cover the costs of travel, accommodations at the gorgeous Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas, and conference materials for each student attendee.

Health Reform U. will feature Cato scholars and other nationally-recognized health policy experts. Sessions will address key questions facing practitioners and policymakers. Potential topics include: U.S. Health Care – How Did We Get Here?; What Practitioners Need to Know about the Opioid Crisis; The False Promise of Single Payer; Overcharged: Understanding the Real Costs of American Health Care; and ShortTerm Health Plans: a “Freedom Option” to ObamaCare.

Attendees will connect with other liberty-friendly medical students at our students’ welcome reception and throughout the day.
