DESCRIPTION:BRI Virtual Event Series - Why Autonomy Matters with Dr. Shane Purcell\n Will the future of health care be decided by Congress\, special interest groups\, insurers\, or conglomerates? Or will it instead be physicians who simply decide to practice differently?\n\nWith over 4\,000 practicing firms nationwide\, direct primary care is quietly\, steadily reshaping medicine by offering doctors greater autonomy and patients a better experience. Join Dr. Shane Purcell as he explains what makes DPC different\, what's driving its growing popularity\, and why it deserves a place in every conversation about health care reform. \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Questions / CommentsHave a question for Dr. Purcell? SUMMARY:BRI Virtual Speaker Series: If the System is Broken... Rebel & Thrive with Dr. Leila Javidi
DESCRIPTION:BRI Virtual Speaker Series: If the System is Broken… Rebel & Thrive with Dr. Leila Javidi\n The emotional toll of high-volume\, low-agency environments is leading to extreme burnout for many primary care physicians. Providers rush through appointments\, patients have difficulty getting simple questions answered\, and insurers enjoy excessive profits. This complete erosion of the doctor-patient relationship has led many physicians to believe that the system as it stands does not work for them and the only way forward is to chart a new course.\n\nJoin us for a conversation with Dr. Leila Javidi\, Founder of Rebel + Thrive DPC. Her desire to transform health care from just the avoidance of illness to being about complete wellness and thriving has made her a widely followed physician voice on social media. We’ll explore why more physicians are rejecting the "toxic" status quo\, what makes the direct primary care model so appealing\, and what it actually takes to build an independent practice from the ground up. \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Questions / CommentsDo you have a question for our speaker? SUMMARY:BRI Virtual Speaker Series: Making the Switch to Direct Specialty Care with Dr. Diana Girnita
DESCRIPTION:Stepping away from insurance can be a big risk for specialists. Building a practice outside the traditional model often means rebuilding your panel\, rethinking how you attract patients\, restructuring your business\, and figuring out how and when you get paid for your work. But for physicians willing to make the leap\, the reward is freedom to practice medicine on their own terms\, without insurers dictating the rules.\n\n\nWe are excited to sit down with the physician who coined the now widely-used term “direct specialty care:” Dr. Diana Girnita\, rheumatologist\, entrepreneur\, and founder of the Direct Specialty Care Alliance. Join us as we discuss all things DSC and offer practical considerations for those looking to make the transition. \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Questions / CommentsDo you have a question for our speaker? DIANA GIRNITA:\nDiana Girnita\, MD\, PhD is the CEO and co-founder of the Direct Specialty Care Alliance as well as a board-certified rheumatologist and internist. She earned her medical degree and PhD Summa Cum Laude in Romania before moving to the United States to pursue NIH-funded research at Harvard and the University of Pittsburgh—producing 17 peer-reviewed publications in transplant immunology. She completed her rheumatology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati and built a successful conventional practice\, where she was named Top Doctor in Cincinnati four consecutive years. In 2020 she launched Rheumatologist OnCall—one of the first Direct Specialty Care practices in the United States. Now operating across 20 states\, the practice has documented what happens when a specialist finally has time to listen: patients finding care after 9-month insurance wait times\, diagnoses after years of dismissal\, and physicians practicing medicine with purpose again. She has since become a nationally-recognized speaker and contributor to media features and articles on the DSC movement. \n  \nABOUT THE BENJAMIN RUSH INSTITUTE:\nBRI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that unites unites medical students\, students in affiliated healthcare specialties\, faculty\, doctors\, healthcare professionals\, and others who believe that free enterprise and a direct patient-doctor relationship are the best means for ensuring optimal patient outcomes at affordable prices. SUMMARY:BRI Virtual Speaker Series: Thoughts on the State of Open Inquiry and Debate on Campus with Jared Rhoads
DESCRIPTION:How can medical students be expected to think critically about health care policy if they’re never challenged to defend their own assumptions or seriously consider the strongest arguments on the other side? Can students make a good-faith case for free-market medicine\, or explain alternative views without resorting to caricature? And what happens to medical education when certain ideas are treated as sacrosanct\, beyond reproach?\n\nJoin us in conversation with Jared Rhoads\, Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Modern Health\, as we discuss the role of debate in medical schools\, the value of intellectual diversity\, and why future physicians need to grapple seriously with competing ideas about how health care should work. \n \n \n Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Questions / CommentsDo you have a question for our speaker?
