Please join us for an enlightening lecture by Dr. Jonathan Schmidt from Priority Physicians. Dr. Schmidt will discuss Direct Primary Care, Concierge medicine, and a hybrid schmidt1model. He will further explain how insurance, medicare, medicaid, and RVUs work as well. This will be an informal lecture with lots of time for questions.

Dr. Jonathan P. Schmidt is a board certified physician in family medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Southern Illinois University and went on to the University of Illinois where he received his doctor of medicine degree. Upon graduation, Dr. Schmidt moved to South Bend, IN, where he completed his family medicine residency at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in his final year.

Dr. Schmidt sought out experience in direct practice medicine during his residency and is excited to be practicing in a way that allows him to put the needs of his patients first. In his free time, Dr. Schmidt enjoys spending time with his wife Cristal, son Kiptyn and daughter Kenley. He also enjoys being outdoors and participating in water sport activities.

Food and drinks will be provided. RSVPs are appreciated!

BRI DPC Lecture at Marian University

POST-EVENT SUMMARY:
Before an intimate student audience of 13 students, Dr. Jonathan Schmidt talked briefly about Medicare/Medicaid, RVUs, and insurance. He then spoke on concierge medicine, direct primary care, a hybrid model, and the positives and negatives of each.

After his 25-minute presentation, Dr. Schmidt opened it up for questions. For the next hour attendees asked questions on very engaging topics: malpractice insurance, ethics of being a businessman while also a doctor, the lifestyle of a direct practice doctor, how to get more educated on direct practice medicine, different pricing strategies, how patient care is improved, the future of healthcare, and many more! It was a great talk and we look forward to the next time Dr. Schmidt comes back.

TESTIMONIAL:
“Benjamin Rush Institute has done a fantastic job bringing in a diverse group of physicians from across the Indianapolis area; Dr. Schmidt is certainly one of them. It was a pleasure to hear him talk about the field of concierge medicine. I was not familiar with the topic so many of the concepts he was talking about seemed impossible with the current state of medicine. Learning that concierge doctors see significantly fewer patients and have the opportunity to spend more time building the doctor-patient relationship, was incredibly refreshing. Dr. Schmidt’s talk helped me realize that the medicine I want to practice is not the pipe dream I once thought it was.” ~ Gabe K., Marian University student attendee
