St. Louis University School of Medicine — Lecture: How Free Markets Benefit the Poor

Learning Resource Center Rm. #113 Schwitalla Hall, 1402 S Grand Blvd, St Louis, MO, United States

BRI Haynes Beth Executive DirectorDr. Beth Haynes, BRI Executive Director and former emergency room physician, will deliver her talk Poverty as a Determinant of Health — Markets as the Cure wherein she discusses the demonstrably beneficial effects of free market forces for those who are most at risk. Specifically, we will discuss how unfettered enterprise can make healthcare more affordable and more accessible to everyone. There is a common misunderstanding among medical students that a free market neglects the poor, and that healthcare management demands government intervention. Dr. Haynes will shed some light on the false premises at the heart of this issue.

All are welcome at BRI events. Lunch will be provided. RSVPs are appreciated.
